A squad of deputy sheriffs were trapped in ambush by a hundred or so metal v/orkers who are out on strike. The deputy sheriffs were on their way to a Mississippi ferry landing to protect non-union laborers. They were in a car, and drove right into a trap. Men jumped out of a ditch and opened fire with shotguns. At the same time, the strikers * had a semi-circle of their own automobiles drawn up in a hollow through which the road ran. Men were posted behind the cars and they, too, opened fire.
