These were the famous Wendells, the last of whom died about a year ago, leaving an estate so fabulously rich that it would take several adding machines to count it all up. The story about the bath-tub came out today in the court proceedings contesting the will of this lady. With all her money, she refused until quite recently to have electricity in the house, and one of her nephews told the court that the only articles in that house less than ten years old were a pair of scissors and a few books.
