<text top="290" left="108" width="704" height="16" font="1">time I came here, it was not Marist College. It was St Ann's Hermitage. My cousin was a Brother </text>
<text top="311" left="108" width="695" height="16" font="1">here, and I came with my parents in 1936 to visit him. And that's a fair distance in the past. And </text>
<text top="332" left="108" width="696" height="16" font="1">my recollections of that event are certainly sketchy, but I remember being here. And so that was </text>
<text top="352" left="108" width="680" height="16" font="1">my initial contact, you know, through him. Later I became a Marist Brother myself, and came </text>
<text top="373" left="108" width="689" height="16" font="1">here then to study in 1951. And stayed here until I began my own teaching career in 1953. And </text>

<text top="709" left="108" width="704" height="16" font="1">stands out in my mind, was the anti-Vietnam (War) protests of the late sixties and trying to get to </text>
<text top="730" left="108" width="692" height="16" font="1">my class in Donnelly for those few students who would show up because they were boycotting, </text>
<text top="750" left="108" width="684" height="16" font="1">you know, classes at the time. And it was a matter of stepping over students in the hallways. It </text>
<text top="771" left="108" width="672" height="16" font="1">was, you know, a very eventful time. It was sad in many ways because there was just a lot of </text>
<text top="792" left="108" width="683" height="16" font="1">turbulence going on, not only in the nation, but on the campus as well. People were very upset </text>
<text top="812" left="108" width="690" height="16" font="1">about things that were happening. So, you know, that surely was one event that stuck out in my </text>
<text top="833" left="108" width="685" height="16" font="1">mind. I guess the other was having been in a situation. You know, here where it was really a, a </text>
<text top="854" left="108" width="694" height="16" font="1">focus on all male students. And then that changed around 1969. And, you know, went into class </text>
<text top="875" left="108" width="679" height="16" font="1">and there were women in my classes. Up to that time, especially teaching the course that I do, </text>
<text top="895" left="108" width="706" height="16" font="1">which is now called Marriage and Family back then it was called Christian Marriage. But to get a </text>
<text top="916" left="108" width="693" height="16" font="1">discussion going, we'd bus the guys down to Mount St. Mary's in order to create, on occasion, a </text>
<text top="937" left="108" width="507" height="16" font="1">little discussion. So those, I guess, maybe are twin memorable events. </text>

<text top="896" left="108" width="658" height="16" font="1">building but then the McCann Center made things quite different on campus. And that was </text>
<text top="916" left="108" width="699" height="16" font="1">maybe the major event, I guess of the seventies, with Dennis Murray's arrival in the Fall of '79. I </text>
