History comes in - when you consider how Juneau got to be the capital in the first place. Juneau, in Southeastern Alaska, at the heau of picturesque Gastinea Channel and within a walk of some of the worlds most spectacular glaciers - Mendenhall, Talsy, and so on. lt was in the 90's that gold was discovered right at Juneau. In no time the rush was on; the city - mushrooau• Gold seakers pouring in. Then came the rush beyond Juneau to Skagway, over the range and down the Yukon to the Klondike. Later Fairbanks and Nome.
