MOSCOW L.T.-DELCO.WEDMESDAY 1 JULY 3, 1957 The Moscow radio announces - a big shake-up in the Kremlin. Molotov, Malenkov and Kaganovich - ousted. All three - deputy premiers, and old-line Stalinists. Now fired from their jobs - tossed off the• Central Committee of the Communist Party. Which committee - ls the supreme power in Soviet Russia. They are, however, allowed to keep their membership in the Communist Party. All three - charged with "anti-party activity." Molotov - Stalin's old foreign minister. Malenkov - wG, ,... succeeded Stalin as Premier, but m was demoted. }. Kaganovich, the only Jew on the Central Committee -- a veteran henchman of Stalin. All three - long reputed at odds with the Khrushchev-Bu! anin partnership, now in control. Constant rumors - that Molotov, Malenkov and Kaganovich were in opposition to Khrushchev's policy of degrading the memory of Stalin. So now their downfall 1s taken to mean - a victory for the anti-Stalin forces. MOSCOW - 2 The shake-up was hinted, earlier in the day, in an article in ravda. )'filch went on with vigorous demands that J party unity must be preserved. The official announcement - followin g shortly afterward. The cause, we hear, is a surge of W1rest in the Red satellites. Which, apparently, are to be pacified - by the Kremlin shake-up, a reaffirmation of the anti-Stalin line of Khrushchev and Bulganin. There was an emergency meeting - of the party central committee. At which the deed was done - the ousting of the Stalinist element. In addition to which former Foreign Minister Shepilov was demoted fzaXA from his job as committee secretary • . ATOMIC President Eisenhower, today, stated - that the atomic scientists working on a " clean " hyd . rogen bomb want - ' c,A. Soviet Russia to have the secret. They want the Russians to A. know - how it's done. Furthermore, the President u said that, if this country ever conducts another H-bomb test, he'll invite every country to send observers, including Soviet Russia. To check on the progress we have made - in developing a 11 clean" bomb. (All this transpired at the White House News Conference, today. The President - outlining the strange .. situation. We)!e told that ninety-five percent of the dangerous fall-out has been removed from hydrogen bomb testing. The scientists believing - that they'll be able to make an H-bomb one hundred percent " clean ' if the testing continues. But, at the disarmament conference in London, this country agrees to stop all atomic testing. Which decision is baaed on the perils of the radio active fall-out.) ATOMIC - 2 Today, the President explained - that the US proposal to halt the testing was decided on - before he was informed about the possibility of eliminating the fall-out. Which information was given to him - by Dr. Edward Teller, who played the leading part in the construction or the H-bomb, and Dr. Ernest Lawrence, Nobel prize-wiMlng inventor or the cyclotron. Those two top ranking atomic scientists had a conference with the President at the White House - and he now tells us that he asked them a question. Did they think we ought to allD share our knowledge about a "clean" bomb with Soviet Russia? To this they answered, as.- quoted by the ~UJ~~~- PresidentA "The minute that we have proved what we say we are going to prove - why, we would want them tfve it." The point is, of course - ~ that a "clean" hydrogen bomb would be a military weapon. Which could be used ag~inst armies - without a fall-out endangering ATOMIC - 3 civilian populations far and wide. Presumably, the Soviets v l t ~ would rather make war with a " clean " bomb, than w i t h ~ /'- ~-Because the radiation hazard of the fall-out would, ~ presumably, endanger all the world - including Russia. Radiation - a worldwide peril. Today - a visit by Candy Sueyama to the family of the woman Girard killed, accidentally. Accompanying her - a man named Shimizu. Whose name has been appearing - in the Gir,rd case. Shimizu - having organized a "save Girard" campaign 1n Japan. Also suggesting - that the soldier pay five thousand dollars "comfort money" to the family of the slain woman. At Marseilles, the carrier, Lake Champlain - was unloading automobiles onto two FrAnch launches. When one launch exploded - gasoline flames immediately spreading to the carrier. JOHN EISENHCMER A report - that Major John Eisenhower was offered a post at a large school. But - rejected the offer. The story appears in the Kansas City 1mes. The name of the school - not reveale. But believed to be - an eastem university. Salary - three times a Major's pay in the Army. John Eisenhower, they say, took the proposition to hla father, the President. Who said - his son had better make up his own mind. Which young Eisenhower did. He thought - it would look bad for the President's aon to quit the Anny.
