<text top="150" left="53" width="817" height="16" font="1">Singapore on June 25, I had exactly two weeks to cover the major parts of Asia. In the first visit I intended to get </text>
<text top="171" left="53" width="776" height="16" font="1">acquainted with the lives of our Brothers, and to try to understand what their needs were during my term as </text>
<text top="191" left="52" width="772" height="16" font="1">Assistant General. That meant that I would start in Singapore, then go up and down Malaysia, then back to </text>
<text top="211" left="53" width="794" height="16" font="1">Singapore, and then East to  Sarawak and back. Thus, I would cover a good part of Asia including Hong Kong </text>
<text top="231" left="53" width="807" height="16" font="1">and the northeastern part of Malaya where I could visit Sarawak, a mission that had been going strong for some </text>
<text top="252" left="53" width="815" height="16" font="1">time already. Most of these countries were strongly influenced by England, as far north as Hong Kong and as far </text>
<text top="272" left="53" width="753" height="16" font="1">east as Sarawak they used the same time, money, and newspapers, and English was a commonly spoken </text>
<text top="293" left="53" width="73" height="16" font="1">language. </text>
