The first article in the series points out that in the first place gates at both major and minor league ball games have been falling off in spectacular fashion, to the tune, they say, of one and a half million in the National League alone On the other hand, it's pointed out that the football fans by no means showed a corresponding reluctance to 3 pay out their money for tickets. Then too, the big sporting goods houses all report a significant decline in the sale of baseball equipment.
