The New York Times this morning announced that the total number of fatalities from football games is thirty-seven this year as compared with fifty last year. Thought this yearfs death list is lower than last year’s, it is still the second highest on record. Up to 1931 the largest number of deaths in any one season was twenty; that was in 1955. These figures are taken to indicate that the new rules are working satisfactorily for greater safety in the game.
