Mccann Center rules _and policies
(Editor's note - 'Ibis fall the McCann Center
begins
its
first' full year of operation. To help the community
un-
derstand the operation of the center the following rules
have been compiled(.

Individual -

Admission to the Center
will

p.m. Mccann Center hours will be posted in
early September, January and June for each of the three
semesters. The lockers, showers and equipment room
will
remain open one-half hour after the posted closing time.
All
members are requested to vacate the building at that
time.

Only members of the Marist College community are
eligible to join the James J. Mccann Recreation Center.
Full time employees of the College, part time employees
who work1>ver
20 hours per week, full time undergraduate
students who pay the activities feel and part time un-
tlergraduate students who pay the activities feel have use
of the McCann Center and the outdoor tennis court at no
fee.
6. Graduate students have an optional fee of $10.00 per
semester.
7. The immediate family .of employees and full time
students may purchase a membership for $48.00 per year.
This membership begins on June 1 and continues until
1\1.ay 31 of the following year.

. Family memberships include spouse and dependent
children. A membership card will be distributed to the
spouse and all.children 18 and

over. Childjren must be
accompaniei>by a parent while in the facility. Children
wilt not be allowed in the facility alone.

diving. boards outdoor patio.)

NOTE: Some facilities may be set aside through the
year for the purpose of income generation. Check the
daily· and weekly schedule posted in the lobby.

Lockers will be available on a daily basis· during the
academic year.
Locks
must
be
furnished by
the
user.
Locks
will
be
available for purchase or rental (by
semester) at the equipment room. Rental of a lock
is
$3.00
with$2.00 returned when the lock
is
returned at the end of
the semester. Locks are sold for
$3.00
plus
tax.
11. Designated team locker rooms are NOT to be used
by daily
users.
These team rooms will be available for
daily use during the summer session only.
When
Team
rooms are used only -locks leased or purchased from the
eql!ipment room can
be
used.

Members are encouraged to use their
own
athletic
attire and equipment. The College however insists that
the following dress standards be adheared tp,while using
the Mccann Center.

Regulation Athletic T-shirts and shorts, warm-up suits
sweat suits, and tennis attire.

Pool: In order to maintain the proper health, safety and
operational standards of the pool, it is necessary to
regulate the attire of swimmers as much as possible;
Male -Tank trunks, boxerJype, knits (swimming style
only), nylon . cord, and most combinations of the con-
ventional types of bathing suits will be accepted.
Female - Tank suits, two piece, one piece, and most
other combinations of the conventional type bathing suits
will be accepted.
·
Exceptions - Any type of pants, cut-offs, athletic shorts
and shirts, T-shirts, exagerated briefs or' tops, tennis
sho~ts, sweaters or the l_!~e
will
not be permitted.
In addition, recreation equipment will be on loan for
'temporary use while in the building. Your ID or mem-
bersh~p c~rd must be presented and left at the equipment
room
m
order to_use the followinl;{ equipment: volleyball,
basketball, tenms·racket, badmmton rackets, universal
gym key.
No other balls will be loaned unless mentioned above.
(This includes tennis balls, handballs, racketballs,
badminton -
and shuttlecocks.)

Racquetball rackets will be rented for 25 cents per hour
upon release of your ID card ..
A h~ndball court reservation book will be available at
the security desk. Handball rules are as follows:
-Play is limited to one hour ..
-2, 3 or 4 people must sign up for the court. You can sign
up for two con-secutive hours only
if the courts are not
reserved by others.

-Paddle rackets and racketball r-ackets · will
be
provided via ID check out system at the security desk.
· Racket balls and handballs will
be
provided. Cost:
$1.50 at
the desk.
·
-Sign up for use of courts is one day in advance.

-Please knock on court door and wait until player inside
responds before opening the door. Entering before play
has stopped may result in injury.. ·

These team rooms will be available for
daily use during the summer session only.

Regulation Athletic T-shirts and shorts, warm-up suits
sweat suits, and tennis attire.

Pool: In order to maintain the proper health, safety and
operational standards of the pool, it is necessary to
regulate the attire of swimmers as much as possible;
Male -Tank trunks, boxerJype, knits (swimming style
only), nylon . cord, and most combinations of the con-
ventional types of bathing suits will be accepted.
Female - Tank suits, two piece, one piece, and most
other combinations of the conventional type bathing suits
will be accepted.

Exceptions - Any type of pants, cut-offs, athletic shorts
and shirts, T-shirts, exagerated briefs or' tops, tennis
sho~ts, sweaters or the l_!~e
will
not be permitted.
In addition, recreation equipment will be on loan for
'temporary use while in the building. Your ID or mem-
bersh~p c~rd must be presented and left at the equipment
room

order to_use the followinl;{ equipment: volleyball,
basketball, tenms·racket, badmmton rackets, universal
gym key.
No other balls will be loaned unless mentioned above.

the security desk. Handball rules are as follows:

up for two con-secutive hours only
if the courts are not
reserved by others.
