to
inform the student
body of activities in academics and campus life. Through these ac-

Your initial. acceptance of
· women on Marist campus was
very noble indeed. You have not
accommodated
for
them,
however, from something as
petty as mirrors that are too high
for a 4'll" girl,
to
a negligence
towards hygenic and con-
sciousness facilities such as birth
control information centers and
clinics.
It has been brought to my at-
tention by a member of Planned
Parenthood in Poughkeepsie that
they are booked for months
ahead. Translated, this means
that between the time a woman
on campus decided to investigate
the various contraceptives and
when she,finally could receive
attention from Planned Paren-
thood,
she
could
become
pregnant and have to face the
abortion-adoption anguish.
Premarital sex does occur at
Marist, friends, and while the
athletes
are
immediately
referred
to
a specialist and
someone who is failing math can
dial S.O.S., a woman with very
real, elemental needs has to wait
a month, maybe two, before she
can visit a clinic
in
town.
All the state colleges have such
clinics or at least information
centers where help is on hand.
And I make my appeal to all the
administration and faculty and
students who exhibit "Abortion is
Murder" bumper stickers.

To the Marist Community:
A member of the student body
has been harai;sed · by - other -
students. His name
is
Richard
Brummett. His offense to these
other students was his article
"On Football" which appeared
three weeks ago in the Circle.
In this article, Mr. Brummett
questioned the natl.ire of football
as a sport and its place on the
Marist campus. Intelligent an-
swers from both sides of this
question appeared in the circle._
However, a farge response was
not garnered and I began to think
that this issue was dead.
But events since. have rekin-
dled interest in this issue. I know
Mr. Brummett has been sub-
jected to verbal abuse at least
three times since the article's
publication. His right to express
his opinion freely as a member
of
this community has been denied
him. This is clearly wrong.
Therefore,
after
the
· Thanksgiving break, I would like
to hold an open meeting of our
community to discuss the
questions raised by Mr. Brum-
mett and Dr. O'Keefe from the
Psychology I;)epartment. Does
football belong on this campus?
Consider your answer carefully,
with your head and not with your
emotions, and please attend this
meeting when it is announced.
Thank you.

The purpose of a class structure is basically

· Attention Administration ·et. al:
Your initial. acceptance of
· women on Marist campus was
very noble indeed. You have not
accommodated
for
them,
however, from something as
petty as mirrors that are too high
for a 4'll" girl,
to
a negligence
towards hygenic and con-
sciousness facilities such as birth
control information centers and
clinics.
It has been brought to my at-
tention by a member of Planned
Parenthood in Poughkeepsie that
they are booked for months
ahead. Translated, this means
that between the time a woman
on campus decided to investigate
the various contraceptives and
when she,finally could receive
attention from Planned Paren-
thood,
she
could
become
pregnant and have to face the
abortion-adoption anguish.
Premarital sex does occur at
Marist, friends, and while the
athletes
are
immediately
referred
to
a specialist and
someone who is failing math can
dial S.O.S., a woman with very
real, elemental needs has to wait
a month, maybe two, before she
can visit a clinic
in
town.
All the state colleges have such
clinics or at least information
centers where help is on hand.
And I make my appeal to all the
administration and faculty and
students who exhibit "Abortion is
Murder" bumper stickers.

To the Marist Community:
A member of the student body
has been harai;sed · by - other -
students. His name
is
Richard
Brummett. His offense to these
other students was his article
"On Football" which appeared
three weeks ago in the Circle.
In this article, Mr. Brummett
questioned the natl.ire of football
as a sport and its place on the
Marist campus. Intelligent an-
swers from both sides of this
question appeared in the circle._
However, a farge response was
not garnered and I began to think
that this issue was dead.
But events since. have rekin-
dled interest in this issue. I know
Mr. Brummett has been sub-
jected to verbal abuse at least
three times since the article's
publication. His right to express
his opinion freely as a member
of
this community has been denied
him. This is clearly wrong.
Therefore,
after
the
· Thanksgiving break, I would like
to hold an open meeting of our
community to discuss the
questions raised by Mr. Brum-
mett and Dr. O'Keefe from the
Psychology I;)epartment. Does
football belong on this campus?
Consider your answer carefully,
with your head and not with your
emotions, and please attend this
meeting when it is announced.
Thank you.
