Marist Men's Lacrosse Team Winning 2023 MAAC Championship

May 30, 2023 — A generous six-figure donation from former Marist student and four-year lacrosse player, C. James Taylor, has enabled Marist to establish a new scholarship program to provide financial support for future student-athletes recruited to play on the men’s lacrosse team. Taylor’s pledge will enable scholarship support for four first-year students with demonstrated financial need.

The donation comes on the heels of the men’s lacrosse team being crowned MAAC champions earlier this month and earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Brewster, New York, Taylor excelled on the lacrosse team at Marist, where he was a team captain and was also named to the All-MAAC Second Team in 2008 and 2009. He is now a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley.

“I am continually humbled by the amazing generosity of our Marist Lacrosse Alumni Group,” said Keegan Wilkinson, Marist Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach. “This commitment will help our staff greatly in our mission to bring the best student-athletes to Marist College as members of our lacrosse program. All of us are incredibly grateful to James for his continued commitment to our program.”

This scholarship opportunity is scheduled to take effect in time for the 2023-24 academic year. One new recipient would be awarded each of the next four years. The scholarships are renewable for three additional years provided recipients continue to meet the awarding criteria.

“Marist takes great pride in James’ exceptional professional success and is deeply grateful for his generous commitment to support the next generation of Red Foxes,” said Chris DelGiorno, Vice President for College Advancement at Marist. “His meaningful commitment provides a wonderful illustration of the strength and power of the Marist alumni network.”
