She signed deeds as Elizabeth McCarty Bech, which leads me to believe McCarty was her mother's maiden name. There is no mention of the name of her first husband, Braëm. Her mothers body was transferred from a Catholic cemetery in New York City, according to notes in the Bech Collection at Marist College.
