Our

Marist marin-

is that we may
follow
the
golden example
of the helmsman who

Th
us word of the absolute
charter w
ut a few minutes in relating, yet it was the culmination
of over two decades of hard work and fervent
-
prayer on the part of
the members of the province. The charter, no matter how beauti-
fully· engraved
c:,r
e1pbossed, reflects in itself but little of the unselfish
and unstinted devotedness of the Brothers who spared no sacrifice
in the attainment of this goal.
Mary, our ordinary resource, smiled with favor when she, along
with her Spouse St. Joseph obtained for us this educational recog-
nition. She no doubt smiles upon us now as she sees this graduating
class leave Marian, thoroughly imbued with the same
sp~rit
of
sacrifice and unity, of prayer/ and cooperation that has proved so
effective in obtaining for us thf absolute charter.
If
future graduating
classes are as.solidly Marist as
the
class of
'51,
the American province
,will
have little trouble in attaining the "glory of God and the honor
of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
