There are many distinct parts of Marist, each with
its own personality and aspirations. It is their
interaction that shapes the concept -
Marist
College. Through their union, Marist becomes
more than a collection of separate entities.

It is a culmination of their
desires to reach set goals
which satisfy a concern for
the community and a
commitment to change.

rhythmic fragments moves within me.

"Then you shall judge yourself," the king
answered. "That is the most difficult thing of all. It
is much more difficult to judge oneself than to
judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself
rightly, then you are indeed a man of true
wisdom.,,

Dedication
This year, the graduates at Marist are proud to acknowledge with
gratitude and appreciation, the twenty years of unceasing time
and effort put forth by President Linus Foy
.
Dr
.
Foy first came to Marist as an undergraduate in 1948
.
After
graduation he taught high school in New York and returned to
teach at Marist during the summer session for two years
.
In 1959
,
at the age of only 28, he was named President of
Marist
,
becoming the youngest college president in the country.
In the past twenty years he has been a leader and a vital factor
in the enormous growth and improvement of Marist College
.
As
administrato
r
and teacher
,
Dr
.
Foy·s insight and dedication to
what he believed Marist could ach
i
eve, gave us, the class of
1979
,
the chance to experience a college designed with the
future in mind.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to you
,
Dr
.
Foy
,
and may
those of the future look to your example.

Readers,
Through the opportunities the yearbook has offered us in the past year, we have grown and learned as individuals;
we have met many sincere people who brought a very real meaning to the REYNARD
.
By capturing the different moments that have occurred, we have worked together to find true beauty in the
different events of each day, whether at Marist, or elsewhere. We have become more aware and appreciative of all
that every day affords us, and therefore, the REYNARD '79 will always stand out as a very enriching experience
that we would not trade for anything.
The Co-editors wish to express thanks to those who have generously given of their time and knowledge to make
this book possible
.
They are: The REYNARD Staff; Paul Nunziata, our photography editor; Michael lantosca, our
assistant photographer; Patrice Salone and Dawn Kelm, our co-layout editors; Peter Nunziata, our advertising
manager; Megan O
'
Brien, our Literary editor; Tom Burke, our business manager; Janice Casey, our editoral
advisor; James Maness, our financial advisor; Patrons, our financial supporters; and Ed Thornton and the staff of
Thornton's Classic Studios. Many thanks to Dale Alger, our publisher
.
Our special thanks go to the ADVERTISING
CLUB, which made this yearbook publication financially possible.
Sincerely,

This merry-go-round keeps whirling
and I'm tired of trying to grab
the golden ring
.
I want to jump off
...
The landing
'
s hard and dark
For a moment
the carousel no longer spins
The gleaming circle
hangs
inches from my grasp.
It dangles there
a taunting
,
teasing dancer
captured by a string
But I wait
...
The merry-go-round twirls
The prize sweeps away
The rider keeps reaching
Until the ring shines in his hand

I am old enough. I have been given the lessons

More
than needed. More than I have ever used. The time has
come for me to put an end to this busy stocking of
supplies. I don

counsel

Why should I keep filling myself with new
reminders and techniques -
it's nothing other than
procrastination

I trust myself. I know what to do
