Marist faces
When walking through campus, one can always be
greeted by a smiling face. Marist attracts people who are
1
friendly and who are willing to go that extra mile to
make a stranger feel comfortable. Whether in Dyson,
Donnelly, or the Campus Center you will always run into
someone who says hello with a warm, inviting smile
.
The
faces of Marist come from different nations, states, and
,
races but what we all have in common outweighs any
differences; we are all a direct product of a Marist edu~
.
cation. Without this common bond there would be no
college institution; we are Marist. One can never forget
those faces they have met during their years here. As we
are now a part of Marist, when we graduate, Marist will
be a part of us

·92 QEYNAQD Dedication
Bob
Lynch
The unsung htrro at Matist College. Bob sacrifices bis tfme and energy to
make tbe students
'
co/1ege career at Marist memorable and meanittgful. Bob
has always
been
a valuable median between administration and the
.
students.
Even though there is a hierarchical differen
.
-ccs between admi.nistratian and
students~
Bob
manages ta level the two making them equal in status and
equally important,. Bob works
8$
an administrator keeping the students
'
views
in
mind.
·
This quality
iJ1
Bob keeps a solid relationship between students and
administrators
.
Bob
also has the
ability
ta remain cheerful and optimistic even
when the worst possible outcome has oocurred
in
the Activities Office
.
But
Bob~
most noble cba.racteristic
is
not his administrative work or cheerfulness
,
it
is
his
humanitarian ability.
Bob
,
s
noblest
characteristic is his
effort

This trust and

They have opened our minds
And forced us lo question our being.
When we have shaken our heads in confusion;
They have tried lo ease our doubts.
They have molded thought into practice
While reaching for the lesson of truth.

We see them as us.

Attending Marist College means
that one has a full-time job as a stu-
dent
,
with studying the number one
priority. Within a semester there is
always something to be accomplished.
There is always an abundance of
reading to be done, as well as, the
usual tests, papers, and busy work to
be completed. The main goal of the
student is to receive the highest possi-
ble grade point average
.
As guessed,
this job as a student is stressful and
difficult. The most popular places for
the student is any place that is quiet.

tlardly Working
Time out! Being a full-time student can be very stress-
ful and monotonous. Some ways to break the monotony
is to do everything and anything that does not involve
working. The most popular form of not working is sleep-
ing. One can find students sleeping almost anywhere,
library, lounges, outside, and for those who have mas-
tered the art of sleeping with one's eyes open; class. Some
students enjoy "vegging'' in front of the
T.
V., while
others rather play ball with some friends.

The
Dyson
O!!_ad: The New Place To
Meet
The Dyson Center is the newest building at Marist
College. Dyson was completed before the Fall 1991 se-
mester. With the building of Dyson came a new area for
students to socialize with friends and classmates. This
common area was built for just that purpose; the quad is
equipped with benches and walls to sit on and a cafeteria
located in Dyson with doors that open out into the
square
.
Students feel the Dyson Quad is a plus for tha
campus. The DysoP. Center is a great spot to hang
oud
at in between classes. The days go by faster when thert
are friends to see during the day. So head to cla~
early, meet with some friends, grab something to eat,
it
is all right there at the Dyson Center. Take a load
off
and just hang out.

~unny Days Al Marisl
Marist College is at its highest
beauty on a sunny day. The sun
dances off the Hudson River as if
sparkling diamonds were jumping be-
tween the ripples of current drifting
down stream.
Smiles as greetings.
Watching a game.
Skies are clear and painted a
light shade of blue. Transparent
rays of sunlight bombard the cam-
pus like raindrops falling to the
earth during a storm. With the
sun's rays come the many varieties
of trees, and flowers landscaped
throughout campus.
Heading to practice
.
Sunshine filled days lead to the
de-hibernation of students. Mari~
members welcome each other and
greet the sun filled day. Taking ad.
vantage of the day, we explore the
outdoors, not believing that tomor-
row it might rain. Life is good.

Class
No one can deny that Marist Col-
lege has a beautiful campus that is
inhabited by great people. Going to
and from class gives one a perfect
opportunity to enjoy Marist's campus
and people. Marist cultivates a di-
verse arboretum and brilliant botani-
cal gardens. Going to and from class
can also be a social event. One can
stop and talk with friends and profes-
sors. To and from or in between, there
is always something new to see on the
Marist Campus.

Wheels On Campus
So you need to get to class quick,
you can do one of two things; you can
either sprint to class like a world class
runner or you can get yourself a set of
wheels. For those of you who live on
campus you can hop on your moun-
tain bike, get on your skateboard,
strap on your rollerblades, or high-
..
jack a Marist golf cart. Other com-
mon wheels on campus are security
vehicles, construction vehicles, and
the Canterbury mini-vans.
For those who live off campus, cars
play an important role in one's ability
to get to class on time. Having a car
can be
.
an agitating experience. First,
one must try to get a parking permit
in a lot that is somewhat close to the
classroom buildings.
Next,
one must
conquer the many speed bumps
(mountains) that are found all over
campus. After you have tackled the
permit and speed bumps you must
pray that when you get out of class
you will not find a ticket on your
windshield or a boot on your tire.
Taking the Canterbury van back home.
One of those times you wish you had a car
.
Stopping for those speed bumps.

Marist Career and Em-
ployer Expo is a successful
way for students to interact
with both college faculty
and different possible em-
ployers. Students were able
to have one-on-one discus-
sions with both faculty and
employers. Throughout the
Expo there was career panel
presentations from profes-
sionals and Marist alumni.
The Marist Expo gives stu-
dents opportunities to ex-
plore different areas and ca-
reer options to best fit one's
own needs and interests.

Frances
Reese Dedication
On October 10, 1991, Marist College presented a
plaque commemorating the Willis and Frances
Reese Courtyard. Frances Reese, a well known pa-
.triot for the environment, was honored at the cere-
mony. Many students are unaware of the Reeses'
dedication to the Hudson River and Dutchess
County. The Reeses' beautiful gift to the students is
the renovation of the Champagnat Mall into a beau-
tifully orchestrated set of flower beds. The renova-
tion invites students to sit and socialize, as well as, to
enjoy the beauty of the courtyard. Mrs. Reese loves
the Marist students and wants to give us the gift of
enjoying the beauty of the Hudson River view from
the courtyard. In turn, Mrs. Reese would like to see
the students take care of the environment like she
has done and will continue to do. Thank you Willis
and Frances Reese for your beautiful gift.

Alcohol Awareness Week
Don't drink and drive.
Pat Reilly with a painted white face.
Alcohol awareness is a ma-
jor issue at Marist. This year
the college supported Alcohol
Awareness
Week
with its own
programs. From October 21 to
November 4, 1991 there were
many alcohol free programs
.
Marist has taken the responsi-
bility to educate the students to
the effects of alcohol and other
drugs
.
For some, alcohol
awareness is not only a one
week recognition but rather a
1
life long struggle.

On October 25, 1991, the
Senior Class held a clam-
bake to raise money for
fu-
ture events. It was a great
opportunity for the Seniors
to get together with one an-
other, eat and drink, and
just have a. great time.
While eating and drinking
Eileen Kinsella entertained
her fellow classmates with
song. All in all the Senior
clambake was a success.
Special thanks to the Senior
class officers who arranged
the event: Jen Chandler,
Maureen Tosner, Willy Tin-

Donnelly Hall Rededication
The rededication of Donnelly Hall
was on October 12, 1991. Marist Col-
lege invited many of the Marist
Brothers back
.
for the ceremony
which was held in the foyer of Don-
nelly Hall. The original Donnelly
Construction Crew reminisced of how
Donnelly Hall was literally built from
the ground up by the Marist Brothers.
A special guest that was honored was
Bro. Edward Michael, who was the
original foreman of the Donnelly
Construction Company. Bro. Paul
Ambrose spoke fondly of Bro. Nilius
V. Donnelly and of his contributions
to the college as architect and build-
er. Marist College is extremely thank-
ful for the work done by the Donnelly
Construction Company and will never
forget the contribution they have
made to the growth of this institution.

Dyson Center
.
CSL thanking Mr. Dyson for his contribution to Marist
.
The building of the Dyson Center
began in the Fall semester of 1990
and was completed in time for classes
in the Fall of 1991. The Dyson Center
houses Adult Education, Graduate
Admissions, Management Studies,
Behavioral and Social Sciences, Com-
puter Lab, Faculty offices, and the
Dyson Cafe.
After years of preparing, the Dyson
Center was dedicated to Margaret M.
and Charles H. Dyson on September
20, 1991. "The Dyson Center has too
many physical attributes to name,"
states Matt Thomson, Student Body
'
President, " ... the most important
attribute of this building is that the
Dyson Center is helping us learn."
Marist would like to thank the Dysons
for there generous gift, that will un-
doubtly affect the lives of many stu-
dents that will pass through the Dyson
Center's doors.
