As I fall into the dark corridors of my mind,
I see the shadowy faces of my past fleeting by.
-·
_J
Faces that once closely watched in wonder the
passing of life.
Faces once so oblivious to the rushing flow
of time.
Sometimes confident, sometimes troubled,
But always finding laughter in joys only
youth can see.
Faces untouched by the lines of care or the furrows of sorrow
Faces that I once knew too well -
Now only a shadow in the flickering light of my m

emories.

Meetthe
construction gang
of Marist
:
College
They are building Marist College with their
own hands-for the chance to build men
with their own minds.
These dedicated Marist Brothers started a brick-
by-brick success story at Mari st College long before
the first student sweated an exam in
1957.
Design-
ing, mixing, hoisting, painting-supplying the muscle
as well as the money-they built Marist College.
First grew the Gymnasium-Auditorium in
1949
with a saving of
$124,000
in costs. Next, the do-it-
yourselfers sliced
$142,000
from the cost of the
campus chapel. Soon after came the dormitory, ad-
ministration building, student lounge, classroom
and library building.
By
1960
the Brothers had
completed six maj<
construction projects for
$1,345,000
-
saving th
school
$1,709,000
in costs. Now
they've got a ter
year expansion plan in the works,
and they nee
your financial help.
Why do they do it?
One reason-to teach. They offer
a challenge
an
an opportunity for
intellectual, social, moral,
an
physical improvement.
Twelve hundred students
take up this challeng
every year to reach their fullest
potential in bo1
their public and private lives.
This is the real labor of Marist
College,
the
builc
ing of men.

Tony Parga (Frosh Rep)
.
The Council sponsored the establishment of a college blood bank
this
year,
but Fred Clark doesn't look too psyched about the whole
arrangement.
The Judicial arm of the Student Government has as its job th(
trying and judging of students or clubs
when
they are no1
complying with the law as presented by the Student Govern
ment Constitution. The members of the Judiciary are (frorr
left to right): Vincent Begley (Sophomore Rep), Charle:
DiSogra (President), and Steve Curto (Junior Rep).
One of the greatest expenditures from the Council treasury
was in the area of cultural activities. Pete Petrocelli, the head
of the Cultural Committee, was wholly responsible for the
presentation of numerous excellant lectures. Pictured here
(above) are two former drug addicts from Synanon telling
of their lives before being cured and (below) Hon. Senator
Jacob Javitts with Brother Linus and Pete.

BUSINESS CLUB
Selected by the Student Council as the "Club of the
Year" for 196 7 -1968, the Business Club has held as its
aim the fostering of a business-oriented environment among
its members. Unique is the fact that membership in the
club requires the purchase of "stock certificates," giving
the club the frame of a business corporation.
Field trips to the New York Stock Exchange and sev-
eral brokeridge houses, a number of movies on business
and its related fields, a large number of fine lectures, the
publishing of a journal of business and economics, aid in
the establishment of an Office of Placement at Marist ...
these are some of the activities which enabled the Business
Club to receive the fine distinction it did.

MARIST
COLLEGE
POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y
.
Fellow Students,
OFFICE OF THE 1968 REYNARD
I have tried to find some philosophical or literary
explanation for the 1968 Reynard, butj poor graees in both
areas will attest to my inability to handle either subject.
Couple that with the fact that there is nothing.very
literary or philosophical about the 1968 Reynard, and all
hopes of an intellectual treatise on the book's underlying
message are trod underfoot,
I will say very frankly that
we
have done nothing more
than attempt to capture the mood of M.O.T,H.; and if you
interpret the book in the way in which was intended, I think
that you will find a mood of contentment and fun (with some
elements of nostalgia sprinkled throughout the section on
Senior Week and Graduation), It is an attempt to tell you
that the Class of 1968 loved its four ~ears at Marist, and
it is hoped that
in
the coming years the yearbook
will
be
capable of bringing back many fond memories to its readers;
for surely many of our greatest memories find their origins
on the college campus,
in
related activities, and with the
numerous companions and adamant friends we h~ve encountered
here.
A very few people have invested an extremely great
amount of time in assembling this yearbook,,,I hope that the
effort is not in vain and does not go unheeded,
I also hope
'
that the publishing of a half-way decent book at Marist
will
kill the apathy which has enveloped the production and sales of
past editions and guarantee the future success of this annual,
Good luck to everyone, most especially to my fellow
graduates of 1968,,,I hope that the 1968 Reynard will prove
representative of Marist,
WCK/gsk
S~ncerely yours,
-&J.l~

Hoping to spark an awareness in the Marist student
regarding his responsibilities to society, the Appalachian
Club was formed by Brendan Mooney, himself a veteran
of two summers working in poverty stricken Appalachia.
Under the leadership of the Christian Appalachian Proj-
ect, the students contribute their time and energies to the
betterment of the conditions in Appalachia, the
.
worst
poverty area in the United States.
In addition to working during the summer, the students
in the Appalachia Club ran a campus clothing drive,
sponsored a lecture and two movies to familiarize the
students with the p_overty conditions, and visited the area
during the Easter vacation.

I.,eading Marist this year in both
scoring and rebounding were Junior Bill
Gowen and Sophomore Bill McK.instry.
Both oustanding men were honored by
the Eastern College Athletic Conference,
being chosen for the E.C.A.Co's team of
the week .on. different occasions, Gowen
for his performance as a forward in the
week ending January 13th when Marist
won three straight games and McKinstry
for.his 60 points

and 58 rebounds in the
week ending February 10th. With these
two fine players returning, and with the
past Frosh players graduating to the
Varsity level, the future prospects for
M.O.T.H. baske ball are extremely bright.

CREW
Crew is not to be omitted from the sports in
which
-
Marist has grown quite proficient and
respected. This year's Varsity is the most expe-
rienced and most widely-travelled of any whicli
Marist has had in the past. The annual Spring
training trip to Florida, a three day Easter en-
counter with Marietta College at Marietta, Ohio,
and trips to Worcester, Massachusetts for the
Rusty Callow and Philadelphia for the Dad Vail
lists the travels of the sweepswingers this season.
Outstanding performers on the Varsity include
captain Andy Drozd, and graduating Seniors Paul
Rinn and Jim Baynes. When you consider the fact
that most of the Varsity and J.V. oarsmen will 6
rowing again in the Fall, prospects for the
196
1969 season are extremely cheerful.
Coached by Paul E. Arold, the Varsity manag
to c
,
apture third place in the Rusty Ca11ow
th:
year, taking fourteenth in the highly competiti
Dad Vail. Freshman Coach Bill Arendt sent
n
team out with high hopes, and they returned fro
the Vail with the distinction of having finish
third-a fantastic position for Marist when o
considers the quality of the thirty or so schoo
who competed in the annual regatta.
THE VARSITY CREW
Crew
is
an extremely
tough
sport, and teamwork and
hard practice
are
the
ingredients
necessary for
a good
team. As this picture
shows,
the
M.O.T.H.
crew got
the hang
of
the
sport.

As I fall into the dark corridors of my mind,
I see the shadowy faces of my past fleeting by.

Faces that once closely watched in wonder the
passing of life.
Faces once so oblivious to the rushing flow
of time.
Sometimes confident, sometimes troubled,
But always finding laughter in joys only
youth can see.
Faces untouched by the lines of care or the furrows of sorrow
Faces that I once knew too well -
Now only a shadow in the flickering light of my m

Meetthe
construction gang
of Marist
:
College
They are building Marist College with their
own hands-for the chance to build men
with their own minds.
These dedicated Marist Brothers started a brick-
by-brick success story at Mari st College long before
the first student sweated an exam in
1957.
Design-
ing, mixing, hoisting, painting-supplying the muscle
as well as the money-they built Marist College.
First grew the Gymnasium-Auditorium in
1949
with a saving of
$124,000
in costs. Next, the do-it-
yourselfers sliced
$142,000
from the cost of the
campus chapel. Soon after came the dormitory, ad-
ministration building, student lounge, classroom
and library building.
By
1960
the Brothers had
completed six maj<
construction projects for
$1,345,000
-
saving th
school
$1,709,000
in costs. Now
they've got a ter
year expansion plan in the works,
and they nee
your financial help.
Why do they do it?
One reason-to teach. They offer
a challenge
an
an opportunity for
intellectual, social, moral,
an
physical improvement.
Twelve hundred students
take up this challeng
every year to reach their fullest
potential in bo1
their public and private lives.
This is the real labor of Marist
College,
the
builc
ing of men.

Tony Parga (Frosh Rep)

Club to receive the fine distinction it did.

explanation for the 1968 Reynard, butj poor graees in both
areas will attest to my inability to handle either subject.
Couple that with the fact that there is nothing.very
literary or philosophical about the 1968 Reynard, and all
hopes of an intellectual treatise on the book's underlying
message are trod underfoot,
I will say very frankly that
we
have done nothing more
than attempt to capture the mood of M.O.T,H.; and if you
interpret the book in the way in which was intended, I think
that you will find a mood of contentment and fun (with some
elements of nostalgia sprinkled throughout the section on
Senior Week and Graduation), It is an attempt to tell you
that the Class of 1968 loved its four ~ears at Marist, and
it is hoped that
in
the coming years the yearbook
will
be
capable of bringing back many fond memories to its readers;
for surely many of our greatest memories find their origins
on the college campus,
in
related activities, and with the
numerous companions and adamant friends we h~ve encountered

Both oustanding men were honored by
the Eastern College Athletic Conference,
being chosen for the E.C.A.Co's team of
the week .on. different occasions, Gowen
for his performance as a forward in the
week ending January 13th when Marist
won three straight games and McKinstry
for.his 60 points
.
and 58 rebounds in the
week ending February 10th. With these
two fine players returning, and with the
past Frosh players graduating to the
Varsity level, the future prospects for
M.O.T.H. baske ball are extremely bright.

CREW
Crew is not to be omitted from the sports in
which
-
Marist has grown quite proficient and
respected. This year's Varsity is the most expe-
rienced and most widely-travelled of any whicli
Marist has had in the past. The annual Spring
training trip to Florida, a three day Easter en-
counter with Marietta College at Marietta, Ohio,
and trips to Worcester, Massachusetts for the
Rusty Callow and Philadelphia for the Dad Vail
lists the travels of the sweepswingers this season.
Outstanding performers on the Varsity include
captain Andy Drozd, and graduating Seniors Paul
Rinn and Jim Baynes. When you consider the fact
that most of the Varsity and J.V. oarsmen will 6
rowing again in the Fall, prospects for the
196
1969 season are extremely cheerful.
Coached by Paul E. Arold, the Varsity manag
to c
,
apture third place in the Rusty Ca11ow
th:
year, taking fourteenth in the highly competiti
Dad Vail. Freshman Coach Bill Arendt sent
n
team out with high hopes, and they returned fro
the Vail with the distinction of having finish
third-a fantastic position for Marist when o
considers the quality of the thirty or so schoo
who competed in the annual regatta.
THE VARSITY CREW
Crew
is
an extremely
tough
sport, and teamwork and
hard practice
are
the
ingredients
necessary for
a good
team. As this picture
shows,
the
M.O.T.H.
crew got
the hang
of
the
sport.
