4
Well, we left
our happy homes,
To see what we could find out.

5

We
left
our
folk
and
friends,
6

With the
aim to clear our minds out.
I

We hit the rowdy road,
And
many
kinds we've met there,
8

Many
stories
told
us
of the
way
to
get there.
9

So on and on we go,
The
seconds
tick the time
out.
10

There's
so much
left
to
know
..
.

12
Then we found ourselves alone,
Hoping
someone
would miss
us.
Thinking
about our
homes,
And the last one to kiss
us.

13

Well, sometimes you have to moan,
When certain things don't suit us.
14

15

-
Nevertheless we know,
we're locked toward the future.
16

So on and on we go,
The seconds
tick
the
time
out.
There's so much
left
to know ...
17

From the time
of
its
establishment,
Maris!
College has been
involved in
a
period of
change, improvement and
expansion.
Th
ese
factors have aided in the survival
of
this in-
stitution as well as the appreciation
of
all who
hav
e
been fortunate enough to be a part of it.
Had it not been for the dedication
and
hard
work of many who often remain unknown and
go unnoticed, we
at
Marist
would
not be the
people and the place that we
are in
the
age of
expa
ni
son.
As witnesses of the
change
in Mari
st
College,
the
graduating
class of 1977 would like to d
e
di-
cate our
yearbook to a man who has
opened up
a
new world
of
potential to all
of
us
h
ere
now
and to those who will benefit in the
years to
come.
That man
is
John
J.
Gartland
,
Jr
.,
who,
through his time
and
interest
in
us, has made
possible the
construction of a
new library
,
ten-
nis
courts, and
the McCann
Sports Complex
here
on
campus. These
assets
have b
ee
n to
our
advantage as
we have wat
c
hed them
become a
part of our little world, but many of the past
accomplishments of Mr. Gartland have
also
added
to
our
four
year experience.
John
J.
Gartland, Jr.
b
ecame
associated with
Marist in the mid 1950
's
as an
advisor
to the
founding president, Brother
Paul
Ambrose,
F.M.S.
H
e
was deeply involved in major deci-
sions
of the
college,
beginning with the open-
ing
of
it
to
students
other than those
studying
to
become Marist Brothers in 1957
and
the
ad-
mittance
of
women
students
in 1968. Mr. Gar-
tland Gontinually
seeks
to provide leadership
to Marist on the wide
variety of
issues that
come before the Board of Trustees and
adds
to
the development
of
our close association and
service
to the Mid-Hudson
community.
As a person, John J. Gartland,
Jr.
is
n
ever
too
busy to help Marist when
asked.
This is
evi-
dent in his dedication to the
college
and the ac-
complishments
made
po
ssib
l
e
through him
.
We
at
Marist College
can
only thank him for
what he
ha
s
done for us
and
feel grateful that
we are able to be such a part of bis personal
interest
as
we have progressed
over
the past
years.
Again, our thanks and appreciation
to
Mr.
John
J.
Gartland, Jr., a part of Marist who will
not be forgotten.
The Senior
Class,
1977

Readers,
This book
,
is an effort of this yearbook staff to capture
this year into a yearbook. We did our best
,
at least I think
so, to cover as much as possible. Of course
,
it
is not possible
to cover everything that happens
,
but we did our best. For
the last
4
years
that I
have been editor of the Reynard, it has
continually gotten
better
and better. The staff has grown
from about 5 or 6 staff members to a good 25 to 30 staff
members; from a one man operation to a team effort, each
contributing more than his/her own share.
For
instance,
this yearbook was the combined efforts of
the people on this staff. I could never have done as good a
job without them. Working with them was quite an
e
xperience. We had our fun times and our tough times.
It
seemed every time we got closer to our deadlines, we got
serious and always pulled through and completed this book.
We
pulled
many all-nighters, to which none of our teachers
realized why we had not done our work.
However, I wish
that next year
'
s staff won't have to do what we had to do.
I
would like to congratulate
my
fellow classmat
e
s for
sticking out these four years at Marist. I hope that we shall
all meet again in th
e
future and I'm sur
e
w
e
will.

It
may
be
warm
but
the snow is going to
fall
,
Enough to cover us
all.
21
8
We've
got to
be
strong men
And
follow
a
path again.

We've got to
have faith
In something
bigger
,
Faith in
something
bigger,
Faith in
something big
Inside
ourselves.
219

220
The more we learn, the less we believe to be true.
The more we prove, the more remains to be proven
.
We've got to be strong men,
And follow a path again.

We've got
to
have faith in something bigger,
Faith in something big inside ourselves
.
221

222
We've got to
find that
something,
Be
strong men
And
follow a path
again
.

So on and on we go,
Seconds tick the time out
There's so much le~ to know ...

"

We're on
the road to find out."
