Vince Poisella writes (6 Sept 2010):
I am happy to see that you marked the passing of Jim Stevens.
I heard about his death around the time when I was finalizing
the August issue of MA but did not make any mention of it
because I knew nothing more. Although Jim was in the group
after me at Tyngsboro and Poughkeepsie, he was on the quiet
side and was difficult to get to know. My connection with him,
though, was a rare one: my Mom who died at age 94 in
February 1905, knew Grace Williams, Jim's Mom. I believe they
worked with each other in their single days, back in the 1920s
and 1930s and kept in touch over the years. A strange twist is
that Jim died at St. Pat's in the Bronx. That's where Mom spent
her last month or two. I would visit John Colbert whenever I

came up to see Mom. Connections are a part of our story.
Connections make memories more meaningful.
