Obituary-Reverend William Sears

Father Sears died January 8 at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, FL.  He was 71.  Born in Manhattan, he attended St. Ann’s Academy, went on to join the Marist Brothers, receiving the name of William Mary in 1952.  He was graduated from Marist College and taught as a Marist before entering St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. He was ordained June 2, 1962, at St. James Pro-Cathedral in Brooklyn.  He served in Brooklyn until 1964.  He served in Florida, the military, and taught at Cardinal Mooney High School.  Most recently, he had been living in retirement in the diocese of Venice, FL.  Burial was at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
