Giraud House

Located on South Rd in the Town of Poughkeepsie, south of the Samuel F.B. Morse Estate.

Originally the home of Jacob Post Giraud Jr., a noted ornithologist, and his wife.  Giraud passed away in 1870, leaving his substantial collection of birds to Vassar College, and the home to his wife.  Presumably it was rented out so that Columbia could stay there in 1899.
