Frank L. "Husky" Guerena
Stanford's Crew Coach 1914-1917
Guerena served as coxswain of the Stanford varsity crew in 1909 and 1911-1912. He was part of the first Stanford crew that competed at Poughkeepsie in 1912. After Stanford lost their crew coach in 1911, Guerena and other crew members took over coaching duties. It was no surprise that after graduating, Guerena returned to Stanford as head coach.
He brought a varsity crew to Poughkeepsie in 1915 and the crew did quite well, leading at one point, but ultimately finishing second to Cornell.
Guerena's tenure as coach at Stanford would come to an end with the demise of their rowing program due to a lack of funding.
