Honoring the Class of 2023 - Part IV

This issue is dedicated to highlighting the Class of 2023 whose accomplishments have lived up to the institution's mission reflecting years of dedication, hard work, and commitment. Here are some of their stories.

Miles Manuel-Scott - Major: Information Systems

Miles will be graduating with a major in information systems, completing three minors in business administration, data science & analytics, and computer science. While at Marist College, Miles was recognized as a Dean’s List recipient for consecutive semesters and nominated for the National Society of Leadership and Success. Following his time at Marist, Miles will be relocating to Washington, D.C., to work with CGI Federal. This multi-billion-dollar management consulting company supports United States national security customers.  
 
Favorite Marist Memory  
Presenting to underclassmen on getting a head start in their desired fields which gave him the opportunity to share the knowledge he accumulated, a both rewarding and validating experience.

Kaden Maguire - M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC)

Kaden graduates from Marist with a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) and has been honored with the Award for Excellence in Graduate Studies. Kaden has been a strong advocate for the inclusion of trans-affirming mental health care training for counseling students, receiving the CMHC Program’s 2023 Outstanding Student Award for their exceptional performance. During their studies, Kaden worked as a counseling intern at the Lexington Center for Recovery and Bard College Counseling Services. At Bard, they co-designed psychoeducational programming aimed at empowering young adults with tools to foster healthy interpersonal relationships. 
 
Favorite Marist Memory 
Requesting that the Clinical Mental Health Program bring a clinical training for working with transgender clients to Marist and seeing that training come to fruition.

Jared Jackson - Major: Political Science 

Jared graduates as a political science major and a member of the Marist Paralegal Program. He attended the 2020 New Hampshire presidential primary with the Marist Poll and completed a spring attachment program studying Democracy in Greece. He was a member of the Honors Program and interned with the NYS Office of The Attorney General. After graduation, Jared will be attending law school at Yeshiva University’s Cardozo School of Law. 
 
Favorite Marist Memory 
The spring attachment program in Greece with fellow Marist students. Getting to see what was discussed in class combined with vibrant sights and cultures. 

Adrien D’Aprile - Major: Philosophy, Economics

Adrien graduates as a philosophy and economics double major with minors in cognitive science and data science with honors. The recipient of this year’s Excellence in Philosophy Baccalaureate Award, Adrien gave back to the Marist and Poughkeepsie communities as a Tarver intern with the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, Assistant Resident Director, Resident Assistant, and Orientation Leader. Adrien also contributed to Marist College’s Middle States re-accreditation process, worked as editor-in-chief of the undergraduate philosophy journal, and presented his research at the Mid-Hudson Philosophy Conference. His Honors thesis articulated the philosophy of facial hair, while his senior thesis addressed the philosophy of death. After graduation, Adrien will continue his studies in the Philosophy M.A. program at the University of Arkansas. 
 
Favorite Marist Memory

Copyediting Philosophy in the Renaissance: An Anthology, edited by Dr. James G. Snyder and Dr. Paul Richard Blum: an intellectually enriching endeavor that gave Adrien valuable experience in the realm of professional philosophy.

Maura McGuire  - Major: Environmental Science

Maura graduates as an environmental science major with a concentration in science and an American studies minor. She interned with the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and took part in public outreach by creating informational videos using trail camera footage. Maura conducted independent research for her Honors Thesis on how Marist College students use and value outdoor green spaces on campus. She also led Marist Women's Rugby as the team captain and was their MVP this past fall. Her post-graduate plan is to be a staff member for Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut.  
 
Favorite Marist Memory 
Her attachment course to southeastern Alaska, spending 10 days on a gorgeous island learning about social-ecological systems and homesteading skills.

Katie Sailer - Major: Psychology, English 

Katie is graduating with a psychology and English double major. She is the recipient of the Marist College Merit Award. During her time at Marist, Katie has worked for the Marist College Athletics Department and as an intern for SportPerformanceU assisting with athletic performance and rehabilitation programs to enhance athlete capabilities. Post graduation Katie plans to continue pursuing her passion for sports by working towards her master’s in sports management.

Favorite Marist Memory
Traveling to Paris, France as part of a spring attachment program. Experiencing the culture and art of France which led to personal growth and broader perspectives of the world.
